THURSDAY, 30 JUNE – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Library will be closed in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

According to a statement issued by the department, the library will be closed for two days, on 6 and 7 July 2016.

However, UMS Library Database can still be accessed through www.ums.edu.my/library/ or facebook.com/umslibrary.

Meanwhile, UMS Health Centre and UMS Polyclinic (Kingfisher Riverside) also issued a reminder on their rescheduled operating hours during the semester break starting 3 July to 28 August 2016.

The opening hours from Mondays to Thursdays are from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm and closed from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm.

The operating hours on Fridays are the same with a break between 11.30 am and 2.00 pm.

However, they are both closed on Saturdays and Sundays including public holidays. – (fl)

WEDNESDAY, 29 JUNE – ‘Ketuk-ketuk Ramadan Bendahari’ is back again this year, serving delectable menu for distribution to staff and students of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) later this evening.

Organised by the Staff Recreation Club of Bursar Department, the activity which entered its forth year would be serving Nasi Hujan Panas, Ayam Madu Insaf, Kacang Ataturk and Laici-kang.

“This activity is a yearly event for our department and we will strive to continue this practice,” said Mohamad Edrus Othman who is the Deputy Bursar at the Bursar Department.

Assistant Bursar, Johnson Yong Thau Sze who has been with the department for more than seven years expressed his excitement when met at the event, adding that the whole department worked as a team regardless of race or religion.

Assistant Administrator, Hazlinah Nasruddin stated that the event fostered goodwill and cooperation amongst staff of the department whilst contributing to the breaking of fast for other staff.

MONDAY, 27 JUNE – The Housewives and Women Staff Club (KESUMBA) of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) recently held their 19^th Annual  General Meeting (MAT19) at the Galeri, Chancellery Building, UMS.

The meeting, chaired by Professor Dr. Arsiah Bahron saw almost 100 members  attending the MAT19, with more signing up to be members of the club.

This year, in response to the university’s EcoCampus campaign, KESUMBA MAT19 went paperless, where all of its reports were uploaded to their website, including their yearly bulletin.

The Vice-Chancellor UMS, Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah officiated at the event and urged the club members to continue to enhance the image of the university through cooperation and activities that would bring benefit to its members.

Also present at the meeting was the President of the club, Datin Baidah Ibrahim and Chief Librarian of UMS, Dg Rukiah Ag Amit. – FL

FRIDAY, 24 JUNE – A total of 11 students of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Mercu Buana (UMB), Jakarta successfully completed one semester of the Mobility Programme at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Education (FPP) UMS, Associate Professor Dr. Hj. Mohd Dahlan A. Malek said, of the total number of students, seven were from UUM and the rest from UMB.

“Congratulations to the Faculty of Psychology and Education for their success in coordinating the mobility programme.  We hope that this programme could be extended to local universities and abroad.

“This is important in order to raise the programme’s KPI and the faculty as well as the university’s,” he said in his speech at the Graduation Ceremony of the programme, yesterday.

The programme was held to celebrate the graduates of the Mobility Programme from UUM and UMB, Jakarta Indonesia.

Dr. Mohd Dahlan said, the mobility programme would be continued in the future by involving more students from other programmes.

“Mobility is a platform for students to gain experience and knowledge from other universities.

“The experience and knowledge gained will undoubtedly be able to give positive impact on the students, faculty and university,” he added. – (fl)
