WEDNESDAY, 12 AUGUST – The publication of a book on ‘Integrity in the Family: A Guide to Happy Family’ indicated that Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is committed to publishing academic books as reference not only for students of higher learning institutions but also families who love harmony and happiness.
UMS Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah said, the publication was evidenced that UMS staff were committed to government policies which required Public Universities in particular improve the quality of work under the national key result areas.
“The publication of these books is consistent with current needs, particularly when UMS is currently in their efforts to bridge the gap with society through social work and research.
“The results of these research are then presented to the public in seminars both locally and internationally. After they are presented academically, the results would be further scrutinised before compiling them into a book such as that of the National Integrity Seminar 2014,” he said.
He said this in his welcome speech at the launching of the book at the Mini Auditorium, Faculty of Psychology and Education, yesterday.
According to Datuk Dr. Harun, the book was also published for the first time by taking the full results of the research of UMS academic leaders.
The book was officiated by Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs Sabah, Datuk Hajah Jainab Datuk Seri Panglima Ahmad Ayid.
Also present was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Institute of Integrity, Dr. Anis Yusal Yusoff. – (fl)
