According to the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies UMS, Dr. Hj. Amran Hj. Harun, the programme could foster unity among UMS staff and students.

Moreover, Iftar Ramadan also teaches Muslims to constantly improve themselves and to be grateful in moderation as implied in the Ramadan tazkirah presented by a representative of the Islamic Centre, UMS, Ustaz Nazri Petir.

The Iftar Programme ended with Maghrib prayers and Isyak followed by terawih. – SM (fl)

JUMAAT, 26 JUN –  Lebih 100 pelajar Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) yang juga terdiri daripada Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar (MPP) serta Jawatankuasa Kebajikan Mahasiswa (JAKMAS) menghadiri Program Sahur dan Iftar bersama Timbalan Naib Canselor Hal Ehwal Pelajar dan Alumni UMS, Profesor Madya Dr. Ismail Ali baru-baru ini.

Program anjuran Jabatan Hal Ehwal Pelajar dan Alumni dengan kerjasama Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar (MPP) Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) itu bertujuan mengeratkan hubungan silaturrahim dalam kalangan pelajar terutamanya pada bulan Ramadan.

Selain itu, program itu juga dilihat dapat merapatkan lagi ukhwah antara pelajar dan pemimpin dengan kehadiran felo-felo kolej kediaman dan beberapa pegawai UMS.

Bagi pelajar Fakulti Kemanusiaan, Seni dan Warisan, Asmah Kadir, pengalaman bersahur bersama Profesor Madya Dr. Ismail Ali dan warga kolej pasti memberi kenangan manis buat beliau

Program Sahur yang diadakan di Kolej Kediaman Tun Fuad bermula pukul 3.30 pagi turut dihadiri oleh Pengetua Kolej tersebut, Dr Puteri Hayati Megat Ahmad.

Turut diadakan pada hari yang sama, Majlis Iftar bersama Profesor Madya Dr. Ismail Ali bertempat di Anjung Siswa.

http://www.ums.edu.my/v5/images/stories/berita_attach/Program_Jom_Sahur.jpgTUESDAY, 30 JUNE – More than 100 students from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) comprising members of the Student Representatives Council (MPP) and Students Welfare Committee (JAKMAS) attended the Sahur and Iftar with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Student Affairs and Alumni UMS, Associate Professor Dr. Ismail Ali, recently.

Organised by the Department of Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA) in collaboration with the Students Representatives Council (MPP) Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) aimed to strenghten ties among students, especially during Ramadan.

The programme was also seen as a way to foster unity among students and leaders along with residential colleges Fellows and UMS officers.

For a student of the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Heritage, Asmah Kadir, this sahur experience with Associate Professor Dr. Ismail Ali and members of the residential college left fond memories for her.

The Sahur Programme held at Tun Fuad Residential College began at 3.30 am and was attended by the Head of the College, Dr Puteri Hayati Megat Ahmad.

Also held on the same day was Iftar Programme with Associate Professor Dr. Ismail Ali, at Anjung Siswa. – (fl)

Buka Puasa KALMONDAY, 29 JUNE –The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah called on all heads of departments or supervisors to always monitor the development projects implemented by UMS.

According to him, the habit of being on the ground should be practiced by all heads of departments to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with the prescribed specifications set by the university management.

He hoped that heads of departments and the officials concerned would communicate among themselves and to monitor the projects closely to ensure that no projects are delayed or have problems at the expense of the good name of UMS.

“Sometimes the projects are in question due to lack of communication among officials who are given the responsibility.  Communication between departments is essential so that any problems can be addressed and resolved,” he said.

He said this when met after attending a breaking of fast with staff of UMS Labuan International Campus, last Friday.

At the event, a total of 10 selected employees received a special contribution from the management of the university.

Datuk Harun advised the staff to continue in working hard to ensure that UMS remain competitive in the national and international levels as well as to enhance their careers.

“We must work hard to ensure UMS is always on the right track at local and international levels,” he said.

Datuk Harun added, staff must improve on giving better services to their customers, including local and foreign students who are assets to the university.

He also reminded students to be involved in community activities as it was part of training to become leaders of the future.

Datuk Harun hoped students would continue to focus on their primary responsibility to gain knowledge and experience while studying at UMS.

“Students need to focus on their education because it is the priority of their family and also the university,” he concluded. –ZMD (fl)
