Description: 

This Special Lecture on RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES IN MARINE PROTECTED AREAS OF SABAH will address current and future research plans by Sabah Parks and opportunities for research in the Marine Protected Areas of Sabah.

 

This Special Lecture is the 2nd in the new Environmental Law Series of the Borneo Ocean Talks (BOT). 

It complements the Environmental Law and Ethics course (SL 31103) offered by the Borneo Marine Research Institute (BMRI/IPMB) of the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

 

This Environmental Law Webinar/Lecture will deepen our understanding of marine protected areas and research opportunities in Sabah, and international/multilateral environmental agreements such as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Global Biodiversity Framework which promotes marine protected areas and marine conservation.

 

This series is also a contribution towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

Description:
This special lecture on Drugs from the Sea will discuss the various marine secondary metabolites found in marine environments, including Borneo waters.

This special lecture is the first in the Borneo Ocean Talks' Marine Metabolites Series (BOT).

It complements the existing diversity of marine metabolites with the therapeutic and nutritional potential highlighted in the marine science undergraduate course (SL30903) offered by Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

Conference of Material and Energy Engineering for Sustainable Advancement 2023 (MEESA 2023) is organized by the Mechanical Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering and UMS Centre of Research in Energy and advanced Materials (CREAM) with an aim to enculturate research and kick-start a more collaborative involvement between the researchers from all over the world for the specified fields.

In MEESA 2023, researchers and postgraduate students from multidisciplinary research backgrounds will gather in a two-day conference to give opportunities to increase their knowledge and build a better research network for long term collaboration opportunities with  conference themed -  ‘Material and Energy Engineering for Sustainable Advancement”.

Conference scopes and topic of interest for submission of MEESA 2023, include but not limited to:  

• Materials Science and Engineering
• Sustainable and Green Process
• Renewable Materials
• Energy

Publication:

Presented papers will have the opportunity to be published in Scopus-indexed journal (Q3)  OR Mycite publication.

**ALL THE JOURNAL PUBLICATION FEES WILL BE ABSORBED BY MEESA 2023. **

 * The journal publication selection is based on the Journal reviewers' decision
