

The Confucius Institute at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (CI@UMS) was invited to participate in the "Green & Vibrant Vegetarian Culture" Festival, organised by the Persatuan Vegetarian Sabah Malaysia on March 1st, 2025. The event was held at SJK(C) Yue Min’s school hall in Penampang, offering the public a chance to taste a variety of vegetarian delicacies and to experience the Confucius' Six Arts, allowing them to engage with and learn about traditional Chinese culture.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huang Yuehua, Director (China) of CI@UMS delivered a lecture on Confucius, providing a brief introduction to his philosophy and the origin of the name of the Confucius Institute. Meanwhile, Dr. Chiew Tung Moi, Director (Malaysia) of CI@UMS gave an overview of CI@UMS to help the local community better understand its role and mission.
The UMS Chinese Orchestra performed several famous pieces, including “The Moon Represents My Heart”, and a CI@UMS-sponsored teacher, Jin Jinjin and volunteers conducted a lacquer fan-making activity at the event.
