On January 11, 2025, the 5th UMS Chinese Orchestra Concert—" Time Rendezvous"—was successfully held at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

During the opening ceremony, the Malaysian and Chinese directors of the Confucius Institute at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (CI@UMS), Dr. Chiew Tung Moi and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huang Yuehua, jointly turned on the "clock" to launch the concert. Dr. Chiew Tung Moi and the concert chairman, Chia Wei Seng, delivered opening speeches.

The preparation for this concert took five months. Classic pieces from China and Malaysia Chinese orchestras, as well as global Chinese music, were selected, such as "Harvest Season," "Good Morning, Sir!", Teresa Teng's classic songs, and some Western and Japanese classical pieces were also performed with Chinese orchestral instruments. The band used their superb skills and great passion to reinterpret these classics, breathing new life into Chinese classics and offering a fresh expression of Western popular songs. The concert attracted more than 300 attendees, and the audience was still eager for more at the end of the performance and strongly requested an encore.

CI@UMS provided strong support to this concert, aiming to use an enjoyable and popular platform to help more UMS students get to know Chinese music and its profound cultural heritage, as well as the fusion and mutual learning between different musics worldwide.
