Power and Energy Research Laboratories (PERL)

The Power and Energy Research Laboratories (PERL) research group focuses on research and development in energy and materials science. The members' research includes sustainable energy conversion from wind, hydro, and solar resources and critical technologies utilizing sustainable materials for energy conversion and storage.
The group's renewable energy research aims to advance wind turbine design and airfoils, conduct energy management and techno-economic analysis of electrical, mechanical, and thermal energy technologies, advance solar PV technology, and apply energy storage technologies.
Additionally, the group researches sustainable materials, focusing on practical recycling processes for photovoltaic panels and advancing supercapacitors using biomass-based materials, metal oxide composites, and innovative electrolytes.
In the field of combustion science, the group explores combustion instabilities of binary gaseous fuels caused by thermoacoustic oscillations. We are also investigating biomass pretreatment for long-term storage through torrefaction.
