ACCOUNTING RESEARCH SEMINAR 2017 ORGANISED BY ACCOUNTING CENTRE

 

On 31 July 2017, Accounting Centre, Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah organised the Accounting Research Seminar 2017. The one-day seminar involved the participation of 30 staff and students of Universiti Malaysia Sabah and 16 external participants. The external participants consisted of staff from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Universiti Teknologi MARA Sabah and University College Sabah Foundation and a postgraduate student from the University of Malaya.

 

The seminar started off with a keynote speech entitled “Contemporary Issues in Accounting Research: The Way Forward” by Professor Dr. Rasid Hj. Mail, Dean, Centre for Postgraduate Studies, Universiti Malaysia Sabah who is also a Professor in the Accounting field at Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. A total of nine presentations was made during the seminar comprising of six presenters from Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah and three presenters from Faculty of Economics and Business, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.

 

The main objective of organising the seminar is to provide an opportunity for researchers in the accounting field to present the findings of their completed and ongoing research. In addition, the seminar is also an avenue for researchers to exchange ideas and network. The Accounting Centre, Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy, Universiti Malaysia Sabah plans to hold similar seminar on annual basis involving participants and institutions of higher learning in East Malaysia and the surrounding region.
