WEDNESDAY, 05 AUGUST – The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah expressed his condolences to the family of Nurul Liyana Mahmod, an undergrad of the Faculty of Sustainable Agriculture who died in an accident last Monday.
Datuk Dr. Harun, in a statement on his Facebook page also gave motivational words to the families of the victims to remain calm and to accept this fate.
“I pray for her soul to be blessed and placed among the believers,” he said.
In the incident, Nurul Liyana was travelling with her father to the Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) for her practical training when the Honda Civic she was driving skidded and collided with a Perodua MyVi.
Liyana died at the scene of the accident while her father was seriously injured and placed at the Emergency Treatment Hospital Unit, Kuala Lipis.
Hailed from Malacca, Liyana was a final year student and will graduate in November. - (fl)
