About Us
The Unit for Rural Education Development (UPPLB) was first established in May, 2006. Formerly known as the Centre for Rural Education Development (CRED), the UPPLB is housed within the School of Education and Social Development (SESD), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The UPPLB conducts research to provide support for the development of rural communities from the islands and coastal areas to the mountains of the interior.
VISION
Unit for Rural Education Research strives to be an innovative research establishment internationally recognised.
MISSION
Unit for Rural Education Research is to conduct and support research activities that address issues in rural education, contributing to the development of the society and the nation.
OBJECTIVES
- To facilitate research for rural education in various aspects of community development;
- To provide, manage and disseminate timely information on issues affecting rural education and communities for decision making;
- To conduct and facilitate conferences, seminars, and workshop on rural education;
- To provide consultancy services for interested parties locally, nationally or internationally ; and
- To establish a network between local and foreign universities and other related agencies for rural education and community development.
