Welcome to Labuan Faculty of International Finance!
Associate Professor Dr. Geoffrey Harvey Tanakinjal
The Labuan Faculty of International Finance (FKAL) of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is located in the Pearl of Borneo (Labuan Federal Territory). It is a great location to concentrate on your academics, as it is located on a beachside campus.
FKAL educates students for leadership roles, stimulates entrepreneurial development, and performs cutting-edge research that impacts business practice. FKAL offers five undergraduate programmes: International Finance, International and Offshore Banking, International Marketing, International Financial Economics, and Islamic Finance. All of these programmes equip our students with transferrable skills and knowledge that prepare them for various roles in the present and future. All students will also have the opportunity to take part in e-mobility programmes, which allow them to enrol in courses offered by foreign universities, potentially enriching their international engagement with students from diverse educational institutions.
Business knowledge and abilities are applicable to all facets of the economy, including international finance, government, non-profit organisations, education, and enterprises on a local and worldwide scale. Recognising that professional pathways evolve, the best preparation for the future of work is an understanding of all areas of business, including leadership, entrepreneurship, data analysis, decision making, negotiation, dispute resolution, consumer behaviour, e-commerce, finance, and accounting. Additionally, we provide research-based postgraduate programmes at the master's and doctoral levels, and our faculty welcomes domestic and international students.
Students with a strong foundation and a background in a particular field of study have a competitive edge in fulfilling the demands of an ever-changing landscape. Our academics actively involve undergraduate and graduate students in their research and provide experiential learning opportunities such as case studies, client projects, and internships, with the ultimate goal of educating students to be leaders in their chosen areas.
Students are encouraged to develop and test business initiatives with the assistance of our UMS Career and Student Entrepreneurship Development Center, which focuses on technology innovation and digital entrepreneurship. In general, the Labuan Faculty of International Finance educates students for future employment by establishing required skills for professional success.
