WEDNESDAY, 19 JUN - Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has been included in the QS World University Rankings for the first time ever. According to the QS World University Rankings 2020 that has just been released, UMS breached the top 1000 of the QS World Rankings and is ranked 801-1000 in the world. UMS vice-chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Kamarudin Mudin said being listed in the world university rankings is the university biggest achievement yet. This memorable milestone, attained during the 25th anniversary of the university, is the result of hardwork, dedication and perseverance of all staff, in particular the academic staff of UMS. This is a significant step forward in realizing the university vision “to be an innovative university of global standing”. This success will motivate and inspire the university community to soar UMS to greater heights. We will continue to built the strength of UMS, among others towards enhancing global prominence, with reference to the university Strategic Plan. This requires the commitment and support of everyone in the university. It is a team effort and every contribution will make a difference. For the record, UMS was established in November 1994 and will be celebrating its silver jubilee this year.
QS World University Rankings has been undertaken by Quacquarelli Symonds since 2004. Shortlisted universities from all over the world are evaluated based on selected indicators: (a) Academic Reputation (40 %), (b) Employer Reputation (10 %), (c) Academic Staff to Student Ratio (20 %), (d) Citations per Academic Staff (20 %), (e) Proportion of International Academic Staff (5 %), and (f) Proportion of International Students (5 %).

WEDNESDAY, 8 MAY - The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Therapeutics (BMST), Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), had successfully organized a Community Service Responsibility (CSR) program entitled “Jom Sihat Bah! 4.0” at Kg.
