Soft Launching of the '9th International Bornean Frog Race 2021' (Online)

The International Bornean Frog Race (IBFR) has been organized by IBEC, UNIMAS since 2012 to uphold the aim to be a renowned scientific outreach programme on Bornean amphibian/anuran rich diversity and imperative conservation via exciting photography contest, talks, and interaction among nature lovers and advocates for conservation awareness and Education for Sustainable Development. Every year the event manages to attract participation from all walks of life all around the world. This year, ITBC (UMS) is proud to be a Strategic Partner Organization for the event, besides other national and international bodies, in augmentation of its contribution in the National Expert Talks in 2016 and 2018 by Kueh Boon Hee @ Kelvin, ITBC Lecturer. The '9th IBFR 2021' which will run online from 1st September 2021 till 29th November 2021 (11:59pm) is expected to receive 300 participants (limit cap) worldwide with monthly webinars, and of course, photography contest showcasing the wonders of Bornean anurans (frogs and toads) using a DSLR or compact camera or even a smartphone, which offers lucrative monthly and Grand prizes up to RM 2,500.00! Based on the recommendations by the Scientific Committee, selected full papers will be channeled for possible publications in Scopus/WoS indexed journals, subject to the fulfillment of journal requirements.

As part of the joint research “Divergent Dimensions of Radicalization Risk: Migration and Violent Extremism in Sabah”, the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START), University of Maryland and Universiti Sabah Malaysia (UMS) and International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation (ISTAC, IIUM) are organizing a webinar entitled "Migration, Security and Regional Militancy in Sabah and The Greater Sulu Celebes Sea".

 

This webinar aims to share the main insights of our research findings, to provide awareness on pertinent issues on security, migration and regional militancy in Sabah and The Greater Sulu Celebes Sea. This webinar will also be an essential medium for knowledge-transfer and capacity-building in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE).
