SUBJECT : CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - APEC FUNDS 2019 FOR CAPACITY BUILDING PROJECTSSMEs

With respect the above matter is referred.
 
2.        We are pleased to inform that MESTECC as the focal point for Malaysia for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (APEC PPSTI), would like to invite participation in the opening for APEC Funds 2019 on capacity building projects related to APEC Agenda. APEC-funded capacity building projects can be delivered through activities i.e. workshops, symposia, seminars, training events, which enable member economies improve their policies and regulations or their institutional structures and processes.
 
 
3.       Project owners who wish to bid for the funds are required to submit their Concept Note (attached template) in not more than 3 pages, and to choose the best suited APEC project funding sources as stated below to streamline the bidding process:

 
i.            i. General Project Account (GPA)
 
Funding Priority Areas: Support all types of APEC projects especially in areas in line with the theme for APEC 2019, which priorities comprises of (i) Improving Connectivity and Deepening Regional Economic Integration (Integration 4.0); (ii) Sustainable Growth; (iii) Digital Society; and (iv) Strengthening Inclusive Growth through Structural Reform and by Increasing Opportunities for Women and SMEs.
 
 
ii.            ii. APEC Support Fund (ASF) - General Fund
 
Funding Priority Areas:
 
§  Developing Human Capital;
 
§  Developing stable, safe and efficient capital markets through structural reform;
 
§  Strengthening economic infrastructure;
 
§  Facilitating technology flows and harnessing technologies for the future;
 
§  Safeguarding the quality of life through environmentally sound growth; and
 
§  Developing and strengthening the dynamism of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs);
 
§  Integration into the global economy;
 
§  Human security and counter-terrorism capacity building;
 
§  Promoting the development of knowledge-based economies; and
 
§  Addressing social dimension of globalisation.

v.        v. Energy Efficiency and Low Carbon Measures (EELCM) Sub-Fund – Energy Working Group APEC
 
      (Latest Announcement – First Call)
 
Funding Priority Areas: Capacity building initiatives contributing to the promotion of energy efficiency and low carbon measures in the APEC region.
 
To be eligible for funding under this Sub-Fund, Concept Notes must address the Sub-Fund eligibility criteria, which include co-endorsement by the APEC Energy Working
 
Group. Detailed instructions on the application process and the eligibility criteria for the Sub-Fund is as in attachment.

4.       The deadlines for the Concept Note submission to APEC Program Directors are on 12 March 2019 (for Session 1/2019) and 15 July 2019 (for Session 2/2019). MESTECC will assist projects related to science, technology and innovation to secure co-sponsoring economies for the project before the above-mentioned submission deadlines. Hence, we urge all submissions of Concept Note to reach the secretariat (undersigned) latest by 19 February 2019 (for Session 1/2019) and 24 June 2019 (for Session 2/2019 – preferred).

SUBJECT : UPCOMING CHANGES TO GOOGLE+ FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION

 

Upcoming changes to Google+ for your organization

 

Here are some of the changes your users may experience with the shutdown of the consumer version of Google+:
  • Communities outside your domain without at least one G Suite owner will be deleted. Also, your users will no longer be able to create public communities outside your domain.
  • Google+ pages, events, and the Google+ profile field for “tagline” will be deleted for both G Suite and consumer users.
  • Previously, upon G Suite customer cancellation, certain customers (e.g., edu customers) could continue to use Google+. Going forward, upon cancellation of G Suite, all G Suite customers’ content will be flagged for deletion.
  • Content from consumer Google+ accounts will be deleted. Consumer users will also be removed from your circles and communities.
  • For additional changes to Google+ features such as collections, circles, search, vanity URLs, and commenting in Blogger and other sites, see the Help Center article.

 

Actions required by Google+ user:

Please perform the actions below:
  1. A new version of the Google+ Android app will be released on February 22, 2019. Please update the Google+ Android app before March 7, 2019 to continue using Google+ on your mobile devices. Old versions of the app will no longer be supported.
  2. If you own or moderate a community outside UMS domain and there are consumer contributions that you would like to keep, you should download and save them before April 2019. If you download the data now, you will get links to community posts. Starting early March 2019, you will also be able to download the author, body, and photos for every community post in a public community.
  3. Google+ pages and events will be deleted for both G Suite and consumer users if there is content you would like to keep, you should download and save it before April 2019. If you would like to keep your Google+ tagline, please have them download and save your Profile data.
  4. Google+ gadgets in classic Google Sites will no longer work starting March 7, 2019, so you may want to remove them. Google+ embeds in the new Google Sites will continue to work.
  5. If you opted into the Google Play Services Public Beta Program, you may experience issues using Google apps like Gmail and Hangouts as we begin shutting down consumer Google+. To avoid any interruption in service, you can leave the Beta Program.

Medicine department in Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UMS will be organizing the UMS Basic Life Support course on 17th March 2019. The course will be held in Meeting Room, Medicine Based Department Block C, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences UMS. The course will provide the participants with the most up-to-date information for basic life support in accordance with the 2015 American Health Association (AHA) guideline. For more information, kindly refer to the brochure as attached.
