Korban JohaidiTUESDAY, 7 OCTOBER – The Qurban and aqiqah Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) level scheduled to be held today went on smoothly despite the heavy rains that hit several areas in the state since Saturday.

Chancellery Media crew found that UMS staff cooperated in carrying out the Qurban which was held at the premises of UMS Mosque.

A total of 16 cows were sacrificed this year with five distributed to villagers of Kampung Nongkolud Tuaran, Minsilau, Tintuhan and Meringin Ranau.

The other 11 were distributed to staff and the needy staying in the villages around UMS campus.

Meanwhile, Mosque and Islamic Affairs Unit (UHEIM) UMS in a statement said that three cows were also donated by MBSB and Restoran Warung Padang Jawa, Alam Mesra as part of the sacrifice this year.

Qurban is a practise for Muslims around the world celebrating the Hari Raya Aidiladha on 11, 12 and 13 Zulhijjah every year. – NB/ZMD (fl)

UMS LogoFRIDAY, 03 OCTOBER – Malaysians are invited to apply for positions found vacant at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

According to a statement issued by UMS Registrar Department today, the vacancies are for the posts of Engineer Grade J41, Quantity Surveyor Grade J41, Security Officer KP41, Information Technology Officer F41, Hostel Manager N41, Psychology Officer S41, Youth and Sports Officer S41 and Auditor Grade W41.

Also vacant are Dental Nurse U29 and Youth and Sports Assistant S17.

Those interested to apply may do so through ejobs.ums.edu.my.

perjumpaan tnchepaTHURSDAY, 02 OCTOBER – Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismail Ali reminded Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students to use campus facilities at the residential colleges wisely and sensibly.

He stressed that vandalism should not be happening among UMS students who were disciplined.

“UMS spent a large amount each month for maintenance and utility costs for the residential colleges, and UMS Student Affairs Department (HEP) is committed to ensure that students are comfortable.

“However, students should also jointly be responsible when using all the facilities provided and cooperate in the college activities such as gotong-royong (communal work),” he said.

He said this during a meeting with college students of residential college AB at the residence college’s hall.

According to him, the Department of Student Affairs also emphasised the personal development of students by implementing a programme based on goals to hone their skills.

More than 1,000 students of residential college AB attended the meeting session. Also present were the Head of Student Affairs Department, Raffie Janau and Head of the Residential College AB, Fauzie Sarjono as well as fellows of Residential College AB. – MA (fl)

Aidiladha-BiFRIDAY, 03 OCTOBER – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Mosque and Islamic Affairs Unit (UHEIM) invites all Muslims to perform the Sunat Aidiladha Prayers this Sunday.

According to a statement issued by UHEIM, the sunat prayers will also be attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd. Harun Abdullah and senior officers of the university.

Meanwhile, slaughtering of the qurban cattle and distribution of the meat will be held on 07 October (Tuesday) at UMS Mosque premises and expected to be attended by the Vice-Chancellor and wife.

All UMS staff and students are invited to attend at the distribution of meat to representatives of villages concerned, refreshment will be served by the organiser.

The Aidiladha celebration is a yearly event organised by UMS UHEIM. – (fl)
