tpm15 cmMONDAY, 26 JANUARY – The State and Federal Government work hand-in-hand and cooperate to further improve state education and strengthen human capital development in the state.

Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman said in this context, the state government was always given the cooperation and commitment of the Ministry of Education (MoE) departments and agencies heads of this state and educators in educational institutions as a whole.

“This includes the preparation and development of educational infrastructure such as schools, higher learning institutions, Teachers Training Institutes (IPG) and skills training centres across the state.

“For this, the state government will always support all efforts and measures taken especially by MoE to ensure that the educational and human capital development aspects in the state would continue to be improved from time to time,” he said when speaking at a Special Meeting With the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin with educators in the State Educational Institutions held at Main Lecture Hall Complex 2, Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

He said the state government had always appreciated the service and dedication of educators to the people and state not only in education but also other aspects of development.

“As learned people, contributions by educators are numerous towards the future of the people and the state throughout the years,” he added. – MA (fl)

zamala wartawan mudaWEDNESDAY, 21 JANUARY – Every news must be reported with integrity to ensure that the credibility of the news is safeguarded.

This was said by the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Harun Abdullah when opening the programme ‘Zamalah Wartawan Muda 1Malaysia’, recently.

He further stressed that the value of honesty should also be made into a strong foundation when reporting certain news.

“The field of journalism is a profession that can change the perception and mindset of the people,” he said.

He added that it was the responsibility of journalists to provide the truth over an issue or incident so that the public would get a clear and true picture.

A total of 23 journalists from 14 media organisations from across the country participated in the programme organised by the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) in collaboration with the Department of Information Sabah. – SS (fl)

kpm logoWEDNESDAY, 21 JANUARY – A meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Education Malaysia, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be held this Friday.

To be held at the Main Lecture Hall Complex 2, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), the special meeting with educators of educational institutions among others, is to discuss the direction and goals of national education and the role of educators towards the success of the national education agenda.

More than 2,000 educators from various educational institutions are expected to attend this special meeting which will commence at 7.00 pm.

Hari Keluarga FPLWEDNESDAY, 21 JANUARY – In appreciation of the dedicated commitment of its academic and non-academic staff, the Welfare and Recreation Club of the Faculty of Sustainable Agriculture will organise its Family Day 2015 scheduled for next month.

The programme which will be the first, aims to foster better relationship among its employees besides appreciating their hardwork and continuous support.

According to the Secretary of the programme, Jelson Ationg, about 60 employees along with their families will be joining the programme which will be held by the lakeside of the campus.

According to him, among the activities planned includes aerobics, karaoke and telematch.

“There will also be lucky draws with the grand prize being an LCD television set,” he said when contacted by Media.

FPL Family Day 2015 will be held on 7 February and will be officiated by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Wan Mohamad Wan Othman. – ZMD (fl)

rafale ums teknoTUESDAY, 20 JANUARY – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in collaboration with Rafale International today organised a 'Rafale Techno-Day' held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKSK).

According to Rafale International Programme Director for Malaysia, Daniel Fremont, the programme aimed to share advances in defence technology with the people of Malaysia.

“This sharing focuses on nanotechnology, and breakthrough in airborne radar and electronic warfare systems. The event also highlights the commitment of Rafale to Malaysia and opportunities for joint collaboration,” he said when delivering his speech at the event.

Meanwhile, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) UMS, Professor Dr. Shahril Yusof said in his speech, in addition to that UMS was very fortunate to have the opportunity to be the co-organiser of the talk which featured leaders in the field of nanotechnology that can provide a scientific perspective, application and commercialisation to research.

“This talk is in line with UMS aspirations to convey knowledge on current issues and modern perspective,” he added.
