1)Renewable Energy InvestmentsUMS prioritises investments in renewable energy technologies to support sustainable campus operations. These investments are aligned with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote energy efficiency. By exploring innovative energy solutions, UMS aims to reduce its environmental impact and serve as a model for green campus development.
As part of its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) integrates health-related research, services, and education into its broader sustainability and investment strategy. Through Hospital UMS (HUMS), the university delivers essential healthcare services to both the UMS community and the wider public, including underserved populations in surrounding areas, thereby reinforcing its role in promoting public health and social equity.
Complementing these efforts, HUMS Bergerak, the university’s mobile healthcare service, extends medical outreach to remote and rural communities, further strengthening access to quality care. Additionally, Politeknik UMS plays a vital role in developing skilled healthcare professionals by supporting technical and vocational education aligned with sustainable healthcare practices.
The Centre for Sustainable Society Engagement (CSSE) at Universiti Malaysia Sabah is dedicated to advancing sustainable development through education, community partnership, and knowledge transfer. The Centre serves as a bridge between the university and society, focusing on empowering local communities with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to address environmental, social, and economic challenges.
Through collaborative outreach programs, educational workshops, and community-driven projects, CSSE promotes the practical application of sustainability principles at the grassroots level.
