Programme Info

The Counseling Psychology program is designed to train students to be knowledgeable and competent in the field of counselling. Thus, students are expected to demonstrate a commitment to professional and personal development. The curriculum offers in this program adhere to the Malaysia Board of Counsellor Standard requirements and Counsellor Act 1998 (Act 580). Counselling courses such as basic counselling skills, the theory of counselling and psychotherapy, career counselling, multicultural counselling, ethics, and lab practices provide students with the knowledge and skills needed as a professional counsellor. In contrast, practicum and internship
offer a clinical experience for the students, which enhances students’ professional and personal growth. Also, psychology courses strengthen students’ ability to understand human behaviour. Graduates of this program are eligible for a registered counsellor and usually employed as a counsellor, psychologist, consultant, human resources personnel, managers, and mental health practitioners in government and private sectors.
