Programme Info

The Child and Family Psychology Programme is designed to educate and equip an individual to be professionals in dealing with children, parents, and families in public and private settings. The Faculty of Psychology and Education believes that children should be studied in the context of their family and community; thus, the study of families has in the development of a child’s emotional, social, cognitive, and personality is imperative. This program represents the efforts of the university and the faculty to enhance collaboration with the community and to respond to the needs of society for professionals to work with children and their families within the community. Depending on their career goals, students will have a choice to go through practical training or opt for thesis writing. Practical training is essential to complement the theoretical aspects of their study, and thesis writing helps them to be researchers in the field of Child and Family. Graduates of this program will serve in the public and private sectors as supervisors in childcare centers, psychological consultation officers, lecturers in institutions of higher learning, research assistants, or tutors in institution of higher learning, managers or principal of childcare centers, and volunteers or facilitators.
