Programme Overview
Planning and development economics programme aims to nurture innovative, resilient and universally responsible economists (planning & development economists) to support national aspiration of becoming a developed, competitive and high-income nation.
Full time: 3.5 years (7 semester)

- Fulfils the University General Requirements
- Obtained a minimum Grade C (GPA 2.00) at STPM level in one (1) of the subjects: Business Studies / Economics / Accounting / Mathematics (M).
- Obtained a Grade E/8E in the following subject at the SPM level: Mathematics.
- Obtained minimum of Band 2 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
- Fulfils the University General Requirements
- Pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Jayyid.
- Obtained a Grade E/8E in the following subject at the SPM level: Mathematics.
- Obtained a minimum of Band 2 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
- Fulfils the University General Requirements
- Obtained a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) at Matriculation/Foundation level in one (1) of the subjects: Economics.
- Obtained a Grade E/8E in the following subject at the SPM level: Mathematics.
- Obtained a minimum of Band 2 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
- Fulfils the University General Requirements
- Obtained a Diploma or any other Equivalent Qualification Recognized by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
- Obtained a Grade E/8E in the following subject at the SPM level: Mathematics.
- Obtained a minimum of Band 2 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
With extensive knowledge and skills in economics, graduates of the planning and development economics programme would have greater opportunities to pursue careers in both public and private sectors. In that, employment prospects are not limited to economics related jobs, but also available in business and accountancy as well as other related fields such as economic researcher, data analyst, financial planner, and planning and development consultant. Graduates from this programme can also utilise and combine their expertise with graduates from other fields of study to establish various types of businesses in contributing to the development of an economy.
